Ximeng and Dominik’s Berlin hotel wedding was the perfect blend of tradition, nature, and heartfelt celebration. They met in Berlin in 2022 and share a home (and two cats) together. Ximeng discovered me on Chinese social media while planning her civil wedding in Berlin. After that joyful experience, she reached out again to document their big celebration.
They chose Hotel Döllnsee-Schorfheide for its peaceful lakeside setting and elegant glasshouse nestled in the forest. Guests came from across Germany and as far as China to witness their union. Ximeng envisioned a dreamy, romantic, fairy-tale wedding, and that’s exactly what it became.
From Chinese papercuts and lucky tassels to a playful German tradition called "Herz ausschneiden" (cutting a heart from cloth to walk through), every detail told a story. The ceremony took place at a dock by the lake under a floral arch with flowing fabric and crystals. Later, as the golden sun dipped into blue hour, guests gathered under fairy lights in the glasshouse. The couple shared an intimate first dance beneath the stars, a moment as timeless as their love.
